GONE MAD's debut, "the insanity defense" absolutely crushes, in a good way, not in the way the "weight of debt for a dream you haven't paid for yet," crushes. The riffs drive, cut and slam in all the right places while you gasp for a breath during deliberately placed bass breaks, buildups and subtle effects. Angelo's vocals drive the songs as he elegantly switches from harsh screams to raspy melodies, serving the songs perfectly. The mix, far from "weak and tactless," showcases the raw power in the songs, letting the vocals cut through rather than soaking them in reverb before burying them. The hooks deliver a clear message in each song and I'm glad they are front and center. I encourage to you read along with this one. Don't take my word for it though, hear it for yourself HERE.
