I'm lucky. I have an easy morning commute: no traffic, just backroads and woods...pretty relaxed. Well, not today! MEDICINAL & KIRKBY KISS just dropped a split to remind me that the world is shit. What a perfect combo of bands for a split, though. The harsh, desperate screams from MEDICINAL sound like someone having their nails pulled back from their fingers with tweezers and they perfectly compliment the guttural screams of desperation from KIRKBY KISS. Both bands offer different brands of melody: MEDICINAL brings single note tremolo picking while KIRKBY focuses on picked out chords, again, their styles complement one another well. Lyrically, they center on similar themes. Both speaking of the end but never declaring defeat. On this split, each band completely honed-in their craft and the recordings serve the songs. The world may deteriorate more and more each day, but hey, at least this split reminds us that we're not alone. Let's hope that's enough to get us through the day. It certainly got my day started and I'm in it now. I can't turn back and go back to bed, nor should I. As always, don't take my word for it. Listen for yourself HERE.
